OVERVIEW - The chapter has participated in the Cobb County Relay since 2004, raising over $110,000 during that time as we join others to help ‘find a cure’ for this dreaded disease.  The 2017 Relay is Friday, May 5th and runs from 6pm to 11pm.  The event is open to the public and draws thousands of people from across north metro Atlanta.  Chi Gamma Gamma Chapter co-sponsors a large tent with the Marietta-Roswell Alumni Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.  Brother Jerome Mallory and Brother Chuck Johnson are again this year’s Relay for Life co-chairs.

As of last year, the format for the event changed.  It is now a one day event.  It is definitely ‘family-friendly’, with no smoking or alcoholic beverages permitted at the event.  So make plans to come out on the 5th.  Stay for a few hours or for the entire event.  This special update from our co-chairs is meant to encourage everyone to join in as we kick off the summer cookout season for a special cause. There is also information needed for anyone wanting to make a donation.  Donations have come from other chapter members, other friends and family members.

LOCATION/TIME - The 2017 Relay on Friday, May 5th runs from 6pm to 11pm. Relay takes place at Jim Miller Park in Cobb County, 2245 Callaway Road SW, 30008.  We will have members of the chapter there for our ‘set-up’ work starting around 2pm, so feel free to come out early if you want to avoid some of the Friday afternoon rush hour. 

CHAPTER TENT – Look for us in our usual spot, not far from the North entrance.  Chi Gamma Gamma Chapter co-sponsors a large tent with the Marietta-Roswell Alumni Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.  We average 125-150 people at our tent each year. 

WHAT TO BRING – Relay is definitely ‘family-friendly’, with no smoking nor alcoholic beverages permitted at the event.  So make plans to come out with the family or be owt all by yourself.  Bring a chair (or blanket) for yourself and guests.  We could use a few more card tables, so if you have one bring it too.  Everything else should already be there.
