Metro- Atlanta Basketball Tournament
 



On July 18th, 2009 The 9th Annual Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated Metro-Atlanta Basketball tournament was held at Tucker Middle School in Tucker, GA. The tournament was a brotherhood event giving the members of the Metro Atlanta chapters an opportunity to fellowship and compete. Five hundred dollars was raised and will be used to sponsor the tournament for next year.

Chi Gamma Gamma, Beta Lambda Lambda, Theta Lambda Lambda, Tau, Phi Kappa Kappa, and Kappa Alpha Alpha Chapters of the Metro Atlanta Chapters participated. Chi Gamma Gamma Chapter successfully defended its title winning The 9th Annual Metro- Atlanta Basketball Tournament. Led by Coach Bro. Nicholas Nelson, the team consisted of Brothers Don Blue, David Jones, Reggie King, Shawn Lattimore, Joe Mitchell, Kareem Miller, Shawn Nelson, Dwayne Willis, Henry Brown, Chris Epps (who was injured during the first game) and Randall Tatem.

In the opening rounds the team cruised past Theta Lambda Lambda and Tau Chapter with twenty point victories. Chi Gamma Gamma then matched up with Beta Lambda Lambda Chapter in the championship. Beta Lambda Lambda proved to be a worthy adversary as the game was close throughout. Chi Gamma Gamma held on with a 64-60 victory to claim its second straight championship. Chi Gamma Gamma swept the honors as well, Brother David Jones received tournament MVP and Brother Reggie King received Chapter MVP.

The tournament was a complete success as all who participated enjoyed themselves. The team also wants to thank those who came out to support the team, including other members of Chi Gamma Gamma chapter, family members and friends. Do I hear ‘three-peat’????
